The Chief of Army Staff (COAS),Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai has constructed and commissioned a well furnished Edifice initiated by his administration and donated to Cyber warfare command ease the accommodation problem of its personnel
Commissioning the new blocks in Abuja, the COAS said “the conceptualisation of the project was articulated to enhance the roles and functions of the command by accommodating its staff in a conducive environment”
Represented in the occasion by the Chief of Policy and Plans ,Nigerian Army, Lt. Gen Lamidi Adeosun, the COAS enumerated the importance of establishing the command, “cyber warfare is the fifth domain of warfare after land, sea, air and space. It was in view of this and other security challenges created that the Nigerian army cyber warfare command was established.
“You would recall that during the commissioning of the Cyber warfare operation at its current temporary location at the army headquarters, I saw the need for a critical nexus between cyber warfare and counter insurgency operations”.
Buratai further expressed delight over the achievement recorded so far hence the establishment of the command.
“I am delighted to say that the command within a short period of existence has contributed immensely in curbing the several challenge bedeviling our country through its operations in the cyber domain.
Buratai also expressed optimism that giving the nature of the serene environment where the command is situated, the the staff of the command will maintain the statusquo .
“It is therefore expected that the establishment saddled with such magnitude of technical responsibilities will require optimal output from its staff at all times.
“This is why I sure that upon the establishment of the command, I immediately approved the construction of the permanent office accommodation at this serene environment.
Buratai tasks the staff of the warfare command to embark on Nigerian army data protection and network as well as the information warfare to curb online radicalisation and other terrorist and nefarious activities being perpetrated on the internet.
He also urged the officers not to relent in their effort and handle the facility with utmost care.
He reiterated that Army will remain resolute and steadfast in tackling the security challenges confronting the country.
Recall that the command was established in Sept 2018 as well gotten an approval for the establishment of the school under it.
Earlier in his address the acting commander of the Nigerian Army Cyber warfare command ,Giri,Brig. Gen. Ibrahim Lassa said, the building and furnishing of the apartment has increased the morals of the soldiers and officers of the command to perform optimally.
He therefore commended the COAS for the project and promised that it will be used for the purpose with which it was meant for
