As promised by the Anambra state government led by Governor Willie Obiano that repairs of failed roads will commence across the state after the rains, massive works has commenced in many roads in the state.
One of such roads is the Nise-Ring road Enugwu -Ukwu which is now wearing a new look.
When ABS arrived the Enugwu-Ukwu axis of the road, men of Master Holdings construction firm handling the project were seen in their numbers, with much number of heavy duty machines and vehicles, asphalting one lane of the road.
It was also observed that both lanes of the road from the entry point at Enugwu-Ukwu -Abagana -Ogidi-Onitsha old road have been tarred as asphalting of the toad continued.
Meanwhile , earth work is ongoing along the Nise axis of the road, where scraping of the old asphalt has been completed up to the bridge towards Enugwu-Ukwu.
Expressing his feelings, the parish priest of St Anthony Catholic Church, Nawfia. Reverend Father Damian Kenechukwu said that it is a good thing that Governor Obiano has started already to fulfil his promise, saying that he is particularly happy that the governor knows where it is hurting the masses and attacking the problems head on.
Reverend Father Kenechukwu said that work is going on tremendously on the road urging the contractor to maintain the quality and tempo.
Some of the road users, Joseph Nnaji and Ogechukwu Udenze, appreciated the state government for responding immediately the rains subsided, and said that such is what a responsive government is known for.
The site Engineer, Mr Emmanuel Okoro promised to complete the road within two weeks as according him, ninety percent of the job has been done.
