The minister of Defence, Maj. Gen. Bashir Magashi (rtd) has called on the newly promoted Major Generals of the Nigerian Army to redouble their efforts to justify the confidence reposed in them in the new responsibility bestowed on them.

General Magashi stated this during the decoration ceremony of the newly promoted Brigadier Generals to the rank of Major Generals in Abuja.

The minister while congratulating the officers ,charged them to be committed and work collectively within the ambit of the law to make Nigeria even more secured.

“let me emphasise the need for you to give your commitment, sacrifice and doggedness towards tackling the myriad of insecurity challenges bedeviling our nation today.

“You must all come together to develop an enduring solution that would completely defeat and bring these, challenges to and end”. The minister stressed.

He therefore enjoined the newly promoted officers to give a maximum support to the Chief of Army Staff, and urged the upcoming senior officers to imbibe a positive attitude and commitment to work.
Also speaking, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai charged the officers to remained focused ,responsive and loyal to the constitution and the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“You are in the right place at the right time but the task ahead is still enormous and you must continue to earn the confidence of Nigerian Army and the country.
While congratulating the officers, Buratai urged them to work with zeal and commitment to accomplish the objective and mission of the Nigerian Army as an institution in any place of their responsibility.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chief of Administration Army, Maj. Gen. Musa Yusuf said the newly promoted officers has attained the milestone of their chosen career.
He added that promotion is a recognition and reward for the dedication, commitment and hardwork of any officer saying, it was well deserving.

In his vote of thanks on behalf of the beneficiaries, Maj. Gen. Suleiman Idris thanked both President Muhammadu Buhari and COAS for honour done to them and promised never to disappoint the confidence repose in them.

The decoration ceremony was attended by the Minister of Defence, Maj. Gen. Bashir Magashi (rtd), Senate committee chairman on Army, Ali Ndume, some members of the National Assembly, top military officers and the family members of the affected officers
