The Minister of Interior Mr Rauf Aregbesola has called for synergy between the security agencies in tackling insecurity challenges in the north east part of the country.
Aregbesola gave the charge at an organized two days roundtable discussion on disarmament, demobilization and reintegration peace building and reconciliation in the north east at the Nigerian Army resource centre Asokoro Abuja.
The Minister commended the efforts put in place by the Nigerian Army so far in nation building and stability in the north east and urged them to integrate with other security agencies in nation building.
In his remarks, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai said the Nigerian Army reaffirms it commitment with stakeholders in the north east to counter insurgency in the region.
Buratai said the security agencies in collaboration with Non governmental organization in peace building disarmament, Negotiation to end counter terrorism in the North East.
Also the Executive Director , NEEM foundation, Dr. Fatima Akilu said the foundation will continue to partner with the Nigerian Army resource centre to finding solution against insurgency in the country.
Dr Akilu explained that the two days roundtable discussion would create coordination, rehabilitation and reintegration in peace building capacity in the north east.
The Director General, Nigerian Army Resource Center, Maj. Gen. Garba Wahab ( Rtd) in his address explained that one of it aim at the roundtable discussion is to chart a roadmap for inclusive and sustainable reintegration in the North East region as well as a robust implementation plan for countering violent extremism in the country.
He added that the resource centres mandate is to provide finding research and best solution of the insecurity challenges faced in the North East particularly the nation at large.
