Report say, on 11 April 2020,Troops of 31 Artillery Brigade had rescued about 7 kidnapped victims believed to be natives of Roro Village of Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
They were rescued during a Mop-up operation to clear bandits at Dogon Gona Forest general area ,also in Niger state.
Maj. Gen John Enenche, Coordinator Defence Media Operations (DMO), Defence Headquarters made this known to Enugu Reporters on Sunday. .
The victims whom were said to have been kidnapped since 27 of last month after which they were taken to unknown destination were later abandoned by the bandits after fierce battle encounter with the troops,the statement explained.
Gen. Enenche further explained that, after a thoroughly interrogation immediately after the successful rescue operation, the Village Head of Madaki confirmed that the victims were natives of Roro Village of Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
The statement further confirmed that the victims would soon be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further necessary action.
Also,the troops of 31 Artillery Brigade were reported to have on 11 April 2020 at Kontokoro Village during on clearance operation engaged bandits in a gun duel.
Several bandits were reported dead while some of them escaped with gunshot wounds during the operation.
