The Acting Director, Defence Media Operations ,Brig. Gen. Bernard Onyeuko says, 7 gun trucks were destroyed while several unconfirmed number of Boko haram /ISWAP terrorists were decimated as well as several of their firearms recovered at Marte in Borno state.
This operation was successfully and effectively conducted by the troops of Operation TURA TAKAIBANGO in conjunction with the Air Task Force of Operation LAFIYA DOLE.
According to Gen. Onyeuko, in a statement made available to Enugu Reporters says, the troops dealt a devastating blow on the criminals after repelling the attempted attack by the terrorists targeted at their (troops’) location at the outskirts of Marte in Marte Local Government Area of Borno State.
“The gallant troops, based on reliable information about the attack, had positioned themselves in an ambush site where they tactically withdrew to, and awaited the arrival of the terrorists before they opened fire which led to fierce battle that resulted in the successes recorded as indicated above.”
The Acting Director noted that the troops were still engaged in pursuit of the fleeing terrorists for further exploitation.
