The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has paid a heartfelt condolence visit to the family of the late Lieutenant General Garba Duba, who passed away on May 17, 2024.

A statement relayed to newsmen by the Director Army Public Relations Major General Onyema Nwachukwu said, General Lagbaja described General Duba’s passing as a “shocking and colossal loss” and praised him as a “torch bearer, disciplinarian, mentor, and leader” who made significant contributions to the Nigerian Army and the nation’s defense.
”His contributions to the development of the NA and the defence of the nation will remain indelible in the institutional memory of the NA.

“The Nigerian Army will deeply remember General Duba’s contributions, which will remain indelible in our institutional memory,” General Lagbaja said.
He assured the family of the Army’s support and condolences, stating that General Duba’s legacy will continue to inspire and motivate the Nigerian Army.
Mohammed Sani Duba, the first son of the late General, expressed his gratitude to the COAS and the entire Army for their condolences and support. “The Nigerian Army has demonstrated strong commitments and stood by us even before the demise of our father,” he said.

The late General Duba held various appointments, including Governor of Bauchi State and Administrator of Sokoto State, and his contributions will be deeply remembered
