In a bid to enhance the capabilities of troops in civil-military engagements, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) and the British Military Advisory Training Team (BMATT) collaborated to organize a one-day Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) workshop for personnel of Operation HADIN KAI at Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Wednesday.
During his remarks, Rear Admiral I Abbas, Chief of Defence Civil-Military Relations, urged participants to foster partnerships and learn from each other to drive progress in CIMIC. He emphasized the need for collective efforts to address the various forms of insecurity plaguing the nation, highlighting the importance of non-kinetic methods.
Major General Waidi Shaibu, Theatre Commander of Joint Task Force North East (NE) Operation HADIN KAI, stressed the pivotal role of CIMIC in achieving operational goals. The workshop featured lectures on practical CIMIC applications, protection of civilians, and engagement with civil communities, among others.
The event, attended by senior officers from DHQ, HQ Theatre Command, and BMATT, culminated in an interactive session, presentation of plaques, and photographs.
Enugu Reporters gathered that this collaboration aims to enhance the effectiveness of civil-military engagements in promoting national security.
