Director NAWIS sensitises personnel of 2 Div on financial security

The Director of the Nigerian Army Welfare Insurance Scheme (NAWIS), Brigadier General MS Adamu, Wednesday conducted a sensitization lecture for personnel of 2 Division, at the Headquarters 2 Division Auditorium, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Ibadan.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations 2 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Polycarp Okoye on Wednesday.

In his lecture, “The Upward Review of Nigerian Army Welfare Insurance Scheme and Benevolent Fund,” Brigadier General Adamu emphasized the importance of NAWIS as a welfare scheme established to meet the needs and aspirations of Nigerian Army personnel. He explained that the scheme provides financial support to soldiers and their families during challenging times, including injury, death, and other unforeseen circumstances.

Enugu Reporters reports that NAWIS offers various insurance products, including life insurance, personal accident insurance, and group personal accident insurance, and is compulsory for all Nigerian Army personnel.

The scheme is funded through monthly contributions from individual personnel salaries.

Brigadier General Adamu highlighted the benefits of NAWIS, including financial compensation for injuries or deaths sustained while on duty, medical and educational benefits for families of deceased soldiers, and financial security for soldiers and their families.
He also emphasized the scheme’s role in motivating and boosting personnel morale.

A second lecture, “Chief of Army Staff’s Personnel Empowerment Loan Scheme,” was delivered by Brigadier General I Sule. The event included interactive sessions, souvenir presentations, and a group photograph.

Our correspondent observed that this sensitization lecture demonstrates the Nigerian Army’s commitment to ensuring the welfare of its personnel and their families.
