The Nigerian Armed Forces have announced significant successes in their ongoing military operations across the country.
According to a report released on Friday by Major General Edward Buba, Director Defence Media Operations said troops have neutralized hundreds of terrorists, arrested numerous suspects, and rescued scores of kidnapped hostages in various regions.

The report highlights the successes of various operations, including Operation HADIN KAI, Operation SAFE HAVEN, Operation WHIRL STROKE, Operation HADARIN DAJI, Operation DELTA SAFE and Operation WHIRL PUNCH.
In the North East, Operation HADIN KAI troops neutralized 133 terrorists, arrested 35 suspects, and rescued 82 kidnapped hostages. The Director noted that Air interdiction were also conducted with significant successes recorded. Meanwhile, Operation SAFE HAVEN troops in the North Central region neutralized 13 insurgents, arrested 51 violent extremists, and rescued 17 kidnapped hostages.
“Air Interdiction. Following ISR on activities of over 200 BH/ISWAP/JAS terrorists with their logistics hibernating South of Tumbun Fulani and Dogon Chuku. On 13 and 14 May 2024, air interdiction was conducted on the acquired targets. Battle Damage Assessment revealed that several terrorists were neutralized, and their structures as well as logistics destroyed.”

In the same vein, Operation WHIRL STROKE troops in the North Central region neutralized 11 terrorists, arrested 7 violent extremists, and rescued 3 kidnapped hostages. Troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI in the North West region neutralized 80 terrorists, arrested 20 terrorists, and rescued 52 kidnapped hostages.
Furthermore, troops of Operation WHIRL PUNCH in the North West region neutralized 22 terrorists, arrested 17 suspects, and rescued 18 kidnapped hostages. In the South South region, troops of Operation DELTA SAFE destroyed several illegal refining sites and recovered stolen products.
“Troops of Operation DELTA SAFE maintained momentum against the activities of crude oil theft. Troops destroyed several illegal refining sites and recovered stolen products. Troops also arrested militants, despatched fighting patrols and conducted raid operations in Odukpani LGA of Cross River, Ovia South-West LGA of Edo State and Brass LGA Bayelsa State.
“Troops Destroy Illegal Refining Sites. Troops recovered 1,047,050 litres of stolen crude oil and 205,550 litres of illegally refined AGO. Additionally, troops discovered and destroyed 22 dugout pits, 37 boats, 70 drums, 4 receiver, 4 reservoirs and 29 storage tanks. Other items,” the statement explained.
