The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has commended the personnel of the Command Central Engineering Depot (CED) Nigerian Army (NA) for their technological innovation and ingenuity in rebuilding, renovating, and repairing combat platforms.
The COAS commended his predecessors for revitalizing the once-dormant Central Engineering Depot, now a vibrant and innovative hub, according to a statement by Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, on Monday.

During his maiden visit to the Engineering Depot in Kaduna on Monday, May 27, 2024, General Lagbaja urged the personnel to sustain their efforts, supporting troops on the frontlines through swift engineering interventions after being briefed by the Commander ,Major General Babatunde Alaya on the engineering efforts done by the Depot. The Commander briefed the COAS on how the Depot rebuilt, rebored and refitted damaged and broken down Combat vehicles to support the ongoing operations.


The COAS emphasized the importance of the CED in ensuring the sustenance of equipment in the Nigerian Army’s inventory, aligning with his Command Philosophy to “Transform the Nigerian Army into a Well-Trained, Equipped, and Highly Motivated Force towards Achieving our Constitutional Responsibilities within a Joint Environment.”

He commended the Commander, officers, soldiers, and civilian staff of the Depot for their dedication to this vision.
During the visit, General Lagbaja inspected the various production sections of the Depot and interacted with personnel, accompanied by the Commandant Nigerian Defence Academy, Major General John Ochai, GOC 2 Division Major General Lander Saraso, and Principal Staff Officers from the Nigerian Army.
