Nigerian Navy demonstrates regional cooperation with multinational exercise

The Western Naval Command (WNC) of the Nigerian Navy (NN) successfully hosted a Combined Sea Exercise, 16 nautical miles South-West of Lagos Fairway Buoy.

Enugu Reporters reports that this multinational exercise which took place on 27 May 2023, brought together four navies: the Nigerian Navy (NNS KANO), the Brazilian Navy (BNS APA), the Italian Navy (ITS BETTICA), and the Spanish Navy (SP FUROR).

The exercise, which was a rehearsal for the forthcoming Regional Maritime Exercise (REMEX), commenced at 1230 and concluded at 1330. The participating navies conducted PASSEX Form 1 and Form D exercises, demonstrating their readiness and cooperation in promoting maritime security in the region.

Our correspondent reports that this combined exercise showcases the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to regional and international cooperation, as well as its dedication to celebrating its 68th anniversary (#NN@68). The success of this exercise is a testament to the navy’s motto, “Onward Together.”
