The Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet said the recent air strikes conducted by the air component of Operation HADARIN DAJI and Operation HADIN KAI have successfully eliminated numerous terrorists in Kankara, Katsina State, and Tumbun Fulani, Borno State respectively.
According to a statement released Wednesday, air strikes were conducted on May 27, 2024, targeting terrorists loyal to the notorious kingpin, Babura, around Bakai, Bakarya, and Yartsintsiya bandits’ hideouts in Kankara Local Government Area. He said credible intelligence confirmed that approximately 30 terrorists were neutralized, with Babura narrowly escaping.
Similarly, air strikes were carried out at Tumbun Fulani, near Lake Chad, against terrorists who had relocated to a previously abandoned hideout. The strikes were authorized after Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions detected a pattern consistent with terrorist relocation and logistics movement.
Enugu Reporters notes that this success is a testament to the effective collaboration between air and ground troops in flushing out terrorists from their hideouts.
“The strikes were authorized after Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions observed a pattern that was consistent with the relocation of terrorists to new hideouts and movement of their logistics.
“Recall that this same location was struck by NAF aircraft on 26 and 28 September 2023 with several terrorists eliminated and their logistics and mobilities destroyed.
“That these remnant of terrorists have returned to their once-destroyed enclave, is indicative of the successes being recorded by both air and ground troops in flushing them out of their various hideouts,” he stated.
The Nigerian Air Force remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all Nigerians, Enugu Reporters reported.
