The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, today paid a working visit to the troops of Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), joining them for Sallah lunch and boosting their morale.
According to a statement issued by the Director Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau on Monday said, the visit was part of the CDS’ operational tour to enhance troop effectiveness and operational capabilities.
During the visit, General Musa extended warm greetings and best wishes to Muslim personnel and their families, praying for happiness, peace, and prosperity. He commended the troops for their commitment, sacrifice, and dedication, acknowledging their crucial role in safeguarding national assets and promoting economic activities in the Niger Delta region.
“ I am deeply honoured to stand before you, the brave soldiers who serve tirelessly to protect our nations interests in the Niger Delta region. Your commitment, sacrifice, and dedication so not go unnoticed, especially on such a significant day of celebration.”
The CDS praised the troops’ professionalism in combating security challenges, emphasizing their significant contributions to the country’s overall security architecture. He encouraged them to continue working together as a cohesive force, respecting each other’s differences and upholding operational integrity.
“This festive season, let us reflect on the values of unity, peace, and tolerance that bind us together,” General Musa concluded.
Earlier, the Joint Task Force (JTF) Commander, Rear Admiral JU Okeke, welcomed the CDS and appreciated his presence. He highlighted the CDS’ philosophy of prioritizing troops’ welfare and morale, showcasing his deep concern for their well-being.
The event was attended by DHQ Departmental Chiefs, GOC 6 Division, land component commander, Major General JH Abdussallam, FOC NAVTRAC, Rear Admiral IM Albara, and traditional rulers.
