NAF reaffirms resolve to end threats as CAS reviews achievements

As the nation grapples with the scourge of insecurity and fear, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Headquarters reaffirmed its might to squarely deal with the threats and bring peace to every stance.
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar made this commitment during a strategic meeting in Abuja when he reviewed the significant accomplishments of the NAF over the past year.

The Director of Public Relations and Information,NAF , Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday said the CAS reaffirmed his commitment to intensifying efforts against terrorism, insurgency, and other security threats in the country to curb its prevalence in the barest minimum.

Addressing Branch Chiefs, Air Officers Commanding, Directors, Commandants, and Commanders, the CAS highlighted the need for proactive and intensified efforts to meet the Federal Government’s and Nigerian citizens’ expectations for a peaceful, safe, and secure nation.

Air Marshal Abubakar also assessed the global and regional security environment, noting the upsurge in coup d’etat in the West African sub-region and the withdrawal of UN troops from MINUSMA, which have negative impacts on regional security.

Despite these challenges, the CAS noted that the NAF has made significant progress in various operational areas, including the fight against insurgency, terrorism, banditry, and oil theft, through its re-strategized efforts and adoption of new air power measures.

He commended the efforts of NAF personnel, expressing gratitude for their support since he assumed office, and acknowledged the ongoing challenges posed by Nigeria’s harsh economic realities.

“The NAF, so far, has achieved modest yet significant progress in fighting insurgency, terrorism, banditry, oil theft, and other criminal activities in the country.

“Therefore, I wish to use this opportunity to commend you all for your efforts. I also sincerely thank you for your support over the last 12 months since my assumption of office,” he stated.

The meeting aimed to revisit NAF’s objectives, discuss performance and achievements, and identify challenges to be addressed, ensuring the organization remains agile, resilient, and capable of meeting Nigeria’s evolving security needs.
