In a heartwarming display of appreciation for the display of operational successes, the Chadian Sultan of Kinassaram, Abakar Yerima, visited the Task Force Kirta troops in Darak, Cameroon, to express gratitude for their tireless efforts in restoring peace and stability to the Lake Chad region.
The Sultan’s visit coincided with the third month of Operation Lake Sanity 2, which has successfully enhanced security and enabled farmers and fishermen to resume their activities without threats.
Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Chief Military Public Information Officer, HQ MNJTF, Ndjamena, Chad, in a statement, Wednesday, said the Sultan praised the troops’ dedication and acknowledged the challenges they face during operations, including terrorist threats and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
He donated sheep to the troops as a symbol of respect and gratitude.
In his remarks, Commander of Task Force Kirta, Navy Captain Patrick Nnom Mabiom, reassured the Sultan of the troops’ unwavering commitment to achieving lasting peace in the region.
He acknowledged the support and cooperation from the local community which has significantly enhanced their operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Enugu Reporters reports that the historic visit by the Sultan highlights the harmonious partnership between the military and local communities, fostering a peaceful and secure environment in the Lake Chad basin.
