In a significant development, three Boko Haram terrorists have surrendered to the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) troops deployed in Cameroon and Nigeria.
The statement was signed by Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Chief Military Public Information Officer, HQ MNJTF, Ndjamena, Chad said on Thursday that the ongoing Operation Lake Sanity II has led to the surrender of three Boko Haram terrorists.
According to a statement, two terrorist fighters, identified as Rawagana Mustapha, 18, and Mustapha Ali, 20, surrendered to troops in Cameroon’s Sector 1, specifically in Wulgo. Meanwhile, in Nigeria’s Sector 3, a third terrorist fighter, Ibrahim Malam, 28, surrendered to the 403 Amphibious Brigade in Baga.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Malam had been an active Boko Haram fighter for six years, operating in the Lake Chad region. The surrender of these terrorists is seen as a significant blow to the terrorist organization, and a major achievement for the MNJTF, Enugu Reporters noted.
The MNJTF has urged other Boko Haram fighters to follow suit, surrendering their arms and renouncing violence. This development is seen as a positive step towards achieving lasting peace and prosperity in the region.
