In a series of precision operations, the Nigerian Army troops have decimated terrorist strongholds in Imo and Kwara States, capturing key kingpins, weapons, and ammunition.

The counter-terrorism operations, conducted in collaboration with other security forces, have significantly degraded the capabilities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

In Orlu Local Government Area, troops apprehended notorious kingpins Izuchukwu Emejuru (aka “Kingkong”) and Chibuzor Chikwe (alias “Onyema”), seizing a cache of weapons, including a semi-automatic pump-action gun, a locally made gun, and a pistol. Valuables belonging to Eze Ogberuru, whose palace was earlier desecrated by ESN elements, were also recovered.

In another decisive operation, troops neutralized IPOB/ESN kingpin Chinemerem (aka “Bam Bam”) in Ezeinyen Okwe Umucheke, Onuimo LGA, arresting several accomplices and seizing weapons, ammunition, and paraphernalia. The hideout was subsequently destroyed.

Troops also intercepted IPOB/ESN terrorists in Amausa, Okigwe LGA, recovering 72 rounds of 7.62 x 51mm (NATO) ammunition, four rounds of 7.62 mm (Special), 3 rounds of 5.56mm, one FN Rifle, military boots, and a green beret.

In a related development, troops arrested suspected terrorist Ibrahim Abdullahi in Edu LGA, Kwara State, recovering an AK-47 rifle, magazines, and ammunition.

Enugu Reporters reports that the success of these operations demonstrate the synergy and commitment of security forces in addressing the challenges posed by terrorist groups and criminal elements.
The troops remain relentless in their efforts to ensure the safety and security of Nigerians.
