The Chadian Armed Forces announced a significant victory in the Lake Chad Basin area, that its troops have neutralized 70 Boko Haram terrorists and destroyed five enemy camps. This was in a recent press conference on June 30, 2024.
Lieutenant Colonel Abdullahi Abubakar, Chief Military Public Information Officer N’djamena -Chad gave this clarification in a statement on Tuesday said, contrary to earlier reports, the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) was not involved in this operation.
“The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) was inaccurately credited with the elimination of 70 Boko Haram terrorists and destruction of 5 Camps in the Lake Chad Basin by section of the media.
“For accuracy, it is essential to note that this operation and the subsequent neutralisation of these terrorists were solely conducted by the Chadian Armed Forces within their territory in the Lake Chad Basin Area.”
According to the statement, the Chadian military’s achievement is a testament to their unwavering commitment to combating terrorism in the region.
The MNJTF acknowledges and respects the Chadian forces’ accomplishments and apologizes for any confusion caused by an earlier press release.
He said, moving forward, the MNJTF is dedicated to providing accurate and precise information to ensure proper attribution of military operations and their outcomes.
