…reiterates ban on unauthorised camouflage use

The Nigerian Army (NA) has addressed the recent recirculation of a misleading video depicting a soldier harassing a civilian for wearing a Nigerian Army Desert Camouflage uniform.
In a statement, Director Army Public Relations Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Sunday, clarified that this footage is an old video being re-shared by individuals or content creators with malicious intent to create tension between the military and civilians.
He explained that the incident in question occurred in 2021, and the NA took swift action, arresting, trying, and punishing the soldier involved for violating the Army’s core values, particularly respect for others’ rights.
The NA reiterates that the ban on unauthorized use of military camouflage remains in effect, permitting only Armed Forces and Nigeria Police Force personnel to wear it.
