In a bid to address the escalating security concerns in Fann District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, the Headquarters 3 Division Nigerian Army and Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) convened a stakeholders’ meeting with community leaders on Wednesday.The gathering was held at the 3 Division Auditorium, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment Jos.
According to Major Aliyu Danja, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations 3 Div Nigerian Army, the meeting aimed to forge a united front against criminalities, including arms proliferation and cattle rustling.
This follows a recent operation in Fann District, which resulted in the recovery of over 30 assorted weapons and military accoutrements.
In his remarks ,the Commander OPSH/General Officer Commanding 3 Division expressed dismay over the continued acts of criminality, emphasizing the negative impact on the district’s stability and security.
He noted that despite efforts to curb the violence, criminality continue to persist in the area and called for a discontinuance. He urged all to sheat their swords and give peace a chance.
Community leaders, including HRH Da Edward Gyang, HRH Iliya Dashwei, and Hon Philip Jwe, acknowledged the shortcomings of their communities in guiding their children and apologized for the incidents. They pledged to cooperate with security forces to identify and apprehend perpetrators.
The stakeholders’ meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to intensify efforts against criminal elements, fostering a collaborative approach to achieving lasting peace in Fann District.
