In a heart-stopping incident that has sparked widespread outrage, a 16-year-old boy, Abubakar Aliyu, was brutally buried alive in a shallow grave in the Gauraki community, Kufaina Ward, Zaria Local Government Area, after being falsely accused of stealing a mobile phone.
The boy was rescued after a miraculous survival, leaving the community and authorities stunned.
According to an official statement signed by the Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Human Services and Social Development Kaduna State, Hajiya (Mrs) Rabi S Ibrahim, the Kaduna government has swiftly intervened in the matter, condemning the heinous act in the strongest terms.
She said the government was deeply disturbed by this incident and vowed to do everything in its power to ensure justice is served.
The suspects, Yahaya Abdulkadir (20) and Abdul Abdulkadir (17), cousins of the victim, have been apprehended by the police and are currently facing justice.
The Social Officer in charge of Zaria visited the community to assess the situation and provide necessary support to the victim and his family.
The Ministry has assured the public that it will closely monitor the case to ensure that justice is served.
According to her, no stone will be left unturned in ensuring that those responsible for this heinous act are brought to book.
The Kaduna State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of all citizens, especially children, and has vowed to take decisive action against those who perpetrate such heinous crimes, including prosecution and rehabilitation.
