In a significant move to bolster national security, the Nigerian Army has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing its partnership with the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC).
This strategic collaboration aims to strengthen the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign and ensure the protection of critical national assets.
According to Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director Army Public Relations, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, emphasized the importance of this partnership during a visit to the Army Headquarters on Friday, August 16, 2024.
He said this will enhance to combat terrorism and enhancing operational readiness.
General Lagbaja stressed the need for continued innovation and improvement of strategies to tackle the evolving threat of terrorism.
“It is important we continue to find ways to enhance our operations by improving Our strategies to tackle the evolving threat of terrorism.”
General Lagbaja stressed the significance of collaboration, saying “We will continue to work together to ensure the safety and security of our nation and her (its) critical assets.”
The Coordinator of the NCTC, Major General Adamu Laka, briefed General Lagbaja on the latest developments in the centre’s counter-terrorism efforts, expressing gratitude for the partnership. “Together, we will enhance our capabilities and response strategies, ensuring we are prepared to confront any challenges that may arise.”
Major General Laka commended General Lagbaja’s visionary leadership, noting his unwavering support for a multi-faceted approach to tackling terrorism.
The visit concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and a commemorative group photograph.
This collaboration underscores the Nigerian Army’s dedication to enhancing national security and ensuring a safe and secure environment for all citizens.
