In a precision operation, the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) has dealt a significant blow to the remnants of terrorists operating in the North East, neutralizing key commanders and destroying their structures in Arina, Southern Tumbuns, Borno State.
According to the Director of Public Relations and Information NAF, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet said intelligence gathered before the mission revealed a surge in terrorist activity in the area, prompting confirmatory surveillance and reconnaissance missions on August 12 and 15, 2024.
The gathered intel confirmed the presence of numerous terrorists and active structures concealed under trees.
The statement noted that on August 16, 2024, a coordinated airstrikes were launched, successfully engaging the targets and resulting in the neutralization of several terrorists, including five key leaders: Munzir Arika, Sani Dilla (Dan Hausawan Jubillaram), Ameer Modu, Dan Fulani Fari Fari, and Bakoura Arina Chiki, along with over 35 foot soldiers.
The operation significantly degraded the operational capacity and capabilities of the remaining terrorists in the region, destroying equipment, vehicles, water vessels, and a suspected medical dispensary, as revealed by the Battle Damage Assessment conducted after the operation.
The Nigerian Air Force remains committed to supporting the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies in safeguarding the region and ensuring peace and security prevail.
