The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, has emphasized the need for the Combat Service Support Corps (CSSC) to re-examine their approach to logistics delivery in support of Nigerian Army operations (NA Ops).
He made this statement while declaring the 25th Combat Service Support Corps training week open, at NEBO Hall, Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, Abalti Barracks in Lagos.
According to a statement issued by Captain Nuradeen Bello, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, Headquarters Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers on Tuesday, General Lagbaja, emphasized the need for innovative ideas for efficient service delivery.
The COAS, represented by Major General Gbemiga Adesina, Commander of the Corps of Signals, expressed appreciation for the Commander-in-Chief’s continued support and pledged the Nigerian Army’s loyalty. He also acknowledged the synergy among the Nigerian Navy, the Nigerian Air Force, and other services across theatres of operations.
Major General Baba Yahaya, Commander Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (NAEME), assured the COAS that the training week would yield positive innovations.
The Combat Logistics Service Support Corps comprises the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport, Medical Corps, Ordnance Corps, and Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Corps.
The opening lecture, “Enhancing Combat Service Support to NA Operations within a Joint Environment Towards Achieving Constitutional Responsibilities,” was delivered by Major General JB Olawumi. Distinguished guests included Principal Staff Officers, commandants of Nigerian Army training institutions, traditional rulers, and heads of paramilitary organizations.
The training week, scheduled to end on August 23, 2024, included a medical outreach on August 19.
