The Nigerian Army (NA) has acquired cutting-edge combat enablers to enhance its operational effectiveness across the country.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, made this announcement on Wednesday at the Chief of Army Staff Combined Second and Third Quarters Conference 2024 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

According to the Director Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu in a statement said the newly acquired combat enablers include Mine-Resistance Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles, rifles, and ammunition, which have already positively impacted troops’ operations against security challenges.

General Lagbaja emphasized that these acquisitions will undoubtedly enhance the effectiveness of troops across various theatres, ultimately contributing to an improved security environment and economic prosperity for the nation.
The COAS highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to building a well-equipped and professional Army, demonstrated through the purchase of combat enablers like the 2 BELL UH-1 Huey Helicopters and other enablers to conduct a range of missions, including logistics and medical evacuation.

He assured that the Nigerian Army pilots are currently undergoing training on these platforms and will soon be fully inducted into the theatres of operation.
In his remarks, Governor Umoh Eno of Akwa Ibom State commended the Nigerian Army’s progressive restructuring and urged the force to remain apolitical, operate within the framework of human rights principles, and adhere to rules of engagement.
While declaring the Conference open, the Gov. emphasized the critical role of actionable intelligence and synergy among security agencies in achieving operational success.

He lauded the operational successes recorded by the NA troops in collaboration with other security agencies across the Six geopolitical zones, describing the NA a key element of national power and deplomacy. Gov Eno encouraged the NA to evolve strategies that will consolidate the achievements recorded and thanked the COAS for his exemplary leadership.
The Army Spokesperson said the event also featured the presentation of Nigerian Army Group Life Assurance cheques to beneficiaries, fulfilling one of the COAS’ Command Philosophy pillars – promoting sound administration through adequate welfare for personnel and their families.

The Nigerian Army’s commitment to enhancing its operational effectiveness, remaining apolitical, and upholding human rights principles demonstrates its dedication to protecting the nation and its citizens.
Enugu Reporters reports that with the acquisition of advanced combat enablers and the support of the President and Governor, the NA is poised to achieve even greater successes in the future.
