The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar has urged graduating cadets of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) to prepare themselves for the high expectations of the Armed Forces of Nigeria in addressing current security challenges.
He made this call during the NDA 2024 Beating of the Retreat and Prize Giving Ceremony held on September 18 at the NDA Parade Ground, Afaka.
The Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, Group Captain Kabiru Ali, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday and noted that Air Marshal Abubakar emphasized the need for the cadets to demonstrate determination, not only through bravery but also through mastery of modern warfare tools and innovations.

The CAS reminded the graduating cadets of the significant resources invested in their capacity building and character development through quality military training and academic foundation.
He charged them to prioritize the nation’s interests, defending its territorial integrity and protecting its people.
“As you prepare to be commissioned as officers, remember that the hopes and aspirations of our country rest on your shoulders,” Abubakar noted. “It is time to ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country.”

Enugu Reporters gathered that Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar emphasized the significance of Integrity, Loyalty, and Courage in serving the nation, urging graduating cadets to uphold these values.
He praised the Commandant and staff of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) for maintaining the esteemed Beating of the Retreat tradition.
