In a daring and precision-guided operation, troops of Sector 3 operating under the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have successfully eliminated Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in Kukawa and Monguno areas of Borno State, Nigeria.
Lieutenant Colonel Olainiyi Osoba, Chief Military Information Officer, HQ MNJTF N’djamena, Chad said in a statement on Monday that the bold operation resulted in the elimination of 5 terrorists, with several others fleeing with gunshot wounds.
He noted that the ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorists, who launched an offensive using suicide Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIEDs), were met with superior firepower from the MNJTF Troops.
The operation involved intense air cum artillery bombardments and ground assault, which led to the destruction of 3 VBIEDs. Additionally, troops captured 40 motorbikes equipped with assorted weapons, 4 anti-aircraft guns, and one rocket-propelled grenade.
He, however, regretted that 3 soldiers paid ultimate price during the operation.
