In a demonstration of appreciation and admiration, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has commended the National Assembly for its swift and efficient screening of Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, the Acting Chief of Army Staff.

This was disclosed to the newsmen by the Director Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau on Wednesday

General Musa, who had the privilege of witnessing the screening process in both the Senate and House of Representatives, was impressed by the thorough and professional manner in which the committees conducted the exercise.

He praised the National Assembly for its patriotism and timeliness in facilitating the screening process, particularly at a critical juncture in the nation’s history.

The CDS expressed his confidence in Lieutenant General Oluyede’s ability to bring new energy and expertise to the fight against insecurity, should he be confirmed as the substantive Chief of Army Staff.

General Musa also assured the National Assembly that Lieutenant General Oluyede would build upon the legacy of his predecessor, the late Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.

In reaffirming the commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to securing the nation, General Musa emphasized the AFN’s loyalty to the constituted authority and its dedication to fulfilling its constitutional roles.

This development is a testament to the collaborative spirit between the legislative and executive arms of government, as well as the commitment of the nation’s security agencies to addressing the pressing security challenges facing the country.
