In a move aimed at strengthening the Nigeria Police Force and promoting professionalism, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate posting of new Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to head Police Zonal Commands in Zones 1, 4, and 9, as well as the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Lagos.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters Abuja, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
The newly deployed AIGs include Suleiman M. Yusuf to Zone 9, Umuahia; Ahmed Ammani to Zone 1, Kano; Zachariah Fera to Zone 4, Makurdi; and Augustina N. Ogbodo to FCID Annex, Lagos.
According to the statement, the posting follow the retirement of previous AIGs and the promotion of DIG Ari Muhammed Ali to the Department of Operations at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
IGP Egbetokun has charged the new AIGs to ensure strict supervision, diligence, and adherence to policing ethics and professional conduct.
He also emphasized the need for officers to exhibit peak professionalism, curb misconduct, and promote the progress of the Nigeria Police Force and the country at large.
Enugu Reporters noted that this development is part of the ongoing efforts to reform the police force and promote transparency and accountability.
The IGP’s commitment to upholding professionalism and curbing misconduct is a step in the right direction towards building trust between the police and the public.
