In a significant boost to the country’s fight against oil theft and terrorism, the Nigerian Military has announced a major victory, with the recovery of N728 million worth of stolen oil and the neutralization of 181 terrorists.
According to the Director of Defence Media Operation, Major General Edward Buba, troops in the South-South region of the country have been working tirelessly to combat oil theft and terrorism, and their efforts have yielded impressive results.
General Buba noted that troops, within two weeks, troops terrorists arrested 203 persons and rescued 161 kidnapped hostages.
He said they also recovered 228 assorted weapons and 6,749 assorted ammunition, including 4 GPMGs, 3 G3 rifles, 85 AK47 rifles, and 38 fabricated rifles.
In addition, troops discovered and destroyed 25 crude oil cooking ovens, 10 dugout pits, 38 boats, 44 storage tanks, and 47 illegal refining sites.
General Buba explained that they also recovered 765,680 litres of stolen crude oil and 86,725 litres of illegally refined AGO.
The military’s efforts have also led to the arrest of several notorious kidnappers and gunrunners, including one Mohammed Musa (aka Mamman), who was arrested in Plateau State.
Major General Buba noted that the military will continue to act with tremendous force to ensure that terrorists and their cohorts are costroyed.
He also assured that troops will continue to create an atmosphere in which citizens live in peace and are safe from acts of terror.
This significant victory is a testament to the military’s commitment to combating oil theft and terrorism in the country.
