The Nigerian military has come out to clarify reports of a recent airstrike in Sokoto State, which was alleged to have targeted civilian structures.
Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi Coordinator Joint Media Coordination Centre Operation FANSAN YAMMA clarified this in a statement signed and released to newsmen on Wednesday,25 December 2024.
According to him, it has been revealed that the targets struck in the vicinity of Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa communities were actually associated with the notorious Lakurawa terrorist group.
This clarification is a significant development in the ongoing fight against terrorism and banditry in the region.
According to the Joint Task Force North West Operation Fansan Yamma, all military operations are conducted based on thorough intelligence and reconnaissance missions. Lieutenant Colonel Abdullahi noted that this rigorous process is particularly important when targeting groups like the Lakurawa terrorist organization, as it aims to ensure precision and protect civilian lives.
