Relief to Zamfara villages as troops eliminate terrorist kingpin Alhaji Ma’oli

In a significant blow to terrorist activities in Zamfara State, the troops of 1 Brigade in Sector 2 Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have successfully killed several terrorists, including the notorious kingpin, Alhaji Ma’oli, on 26 December 2024.

Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi Coordinator Joint Media Coordination Centre Operation FANSAM YAMMA disclosed this in a statement on Friday.

He noted that the operation, which took place in Mai Sheka village, near Kunchin Kalgo town, marks a major victory for the Joint Task Force and a significant step towards achieving lasting peace and security in the region.

Alhaji Ma’oli, renowned for imposing illegal levies on residents of Unguwan Rogo, Mai Sheka, Magazawa, and other surrounding areas of Bilbis in Tsafe LGA of Zamfara State, had been a thorn in the side of local communities for far too long.

According to the statement, his reign of terror had left many residents living in fear, but the swift response by troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA had brought relief and excitement to the locals in Bilbis general area.

The operation was initiated in response to an intelligence report of terrorists on motorcycles operating in Bilbis axis of Bilbis District, Tsafe LGA in Zamfara State.

Lieutenant Colonel Abdullahi said the troops’ swift response not only thwarted the terrorists’ plan to attack the locals but also reinforced the commitment to securing the area from further acts of violence.

The statement maintained that Operation FANSAN YAMMA remains resolute in its mandate to pursue and neutralise all remaining terrorists and their collaborators across the Joint Task Force Theatre of Operation.

The Joint Task Force will continue to work diligently alongside local communities towards achieving lasting peace and security in Zamfara State and beyond. This significant achievement is a testament to the bravery and dedication of the troops and a major step towards restoring peace and stability in the region
