Breaking: NA eliminates criminal gang responsible for killing gour soldiers

In a daring and meticulously planned operation, troops of the 5 Battalion, Nigerian Army (NA), had launched a surprise attack on the hideout of a notorious criminal gang at Kalaogbokolo in Ahoada West Local Government Area, Rivers State.

Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, 6 Division’s Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations disclosed this in a statement on Monday explained that the gang, which had been terrorizing the community, was responsible for the brutal killing of four soldiers and the abduction of two Korean expatriates, who were staff of Daewoo company, on December 12, 2023.

According to him, the operation, which was conducted following credible intelligence on the return of the wanted criminals to the community, resulted in the recovery of several arms and ammunitions.

Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma explained that the troops conducted a thorough cordon and search operation, which led to the discovery of a cache of weapons, including one AK 47 rifle, one Fabrique Nationale rifle, and one Pump action gun.

The statement added that, two locally made rifles, three Ak 47 magazines, one FN magazine, as well as three rounds of 7.62mm (Special) and 13 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) were also recovered.

The operation was a major success, with two members of the criminal gang apprehended during the raid.

He ,however, noted that while the troops were exploiting the area for further discoveries, the suspects attempted to escape into the bush and were eliminated after a long pursuit.

Enugu Reporters reports that this operation is a testament to the Nigerian Army’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, and a clear message to criminals that they will be brought to justice, no matter how long it takes.

The 6 Division, Nigerian Army, has reassured the general public of its commitment to protecting the community and has urged members of the public to continue providing actionable intelligence on the activities of such criminal gangs to the security agencies.

The operation is a significant milestone in the fight against crime and terrorism in the region, and it’s a reminder that the Nigerian Army is dedicated to keeping the country safe.
