The newly appointed Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Ambassador Gabriel Tanimu Aduda, has praised the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and other sister services for their enhanced collaboration in combating insurgency and other criminal activities across the country.
The Director Public Relations and Information,NAF, Air Vice Marshal Olusola Akinboyewa, said Ambassador Aduda gave the commendation during his maiden visit to the NAF Headquarters (HQ) in Abuja on 9 January 2025
During his remarks, Ambassador Aduda expressed his profound gratitude for the opportunity to serve as Permanent Secretary MOD, and reaffirmed the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to improving the welfare and providing unrelenting support to the Armed Forces of Nigeria in all capacities.
He emphasized the importance of synergy between the MOD and the NAF in achieving national security goals, and pledged to strengthen this partnership in the days ahead.
In his response, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, described the current dispensation in the NAF as a “Golden Era” under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.
The CAS highlighted the delivery in 2024 of 14 advanced aircraft, out of 64 expected within three years, and commended the Ministry’s support in strengthening NAF’s operational readiness.
He also expressed his appreciation for the Permanent Secretary’s visit to HQ NAF, promising to sustain the collaboration between the NAF and the Ministry.
The visit featured a presentation of a commemorative souvenir to Ambassador Aduda, and a tour of the HQ NAF Memorial Arcade, where the Permanent Secretary laid a wreath and led the observance of a minute’s silence in honour of the nation’s Fallen Heroes.
Enugu Reporters noted that the poignant gesture served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the brave men and women of the NAF, and the importance of their role in maintaining national security.
The event underscored the importance of cooperation and collaboration between the MOD and the NAF in achieving national security goals. As the Nigerian Air Force continues to play a vital role in combating insurgency and other criminal activities, the support and partnership of the Ministry of Defence remain crucial to its success.
