The Nigerian Armed Forces are making great strides in their fight against terrorism and insurgency, with a clear objective to break the terrorists’ will to fight.
The outgoing Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, disclosed this on Thursday during his final brief on the achievements of the military in collaboration with other security agencies in all the theatres of operations across the coujtry.
General Buba noted that the unwavering commitment of the military during their onslaughts against the criminal elements within the week has led to significant successes, including the neutralization of 156 terrorists and the arrest of 464 suspected terrorists.
According to him, the military has also rescued 181 kidnapped hostages and apprehended 29 perpetrators of oil theft, dealing a major blow to the enemy’s economic backbone.
He explained that the troops’ determination and sacrifice have been crucial in achieving these results, with the recovery of 219 assorted weapons and 2,871 assorted ammunition. The military has also discovered and destroyed 48 crude oil cooking ovens, 10 dugout pits, 56 storage tanks, and 46 illegal refining sites in the Niger Delta area, further crippling the enemy’s ability to operate.
He noted that the Nigerian Armed Forces are commited to winning the war against terrorists and insurgents hence they are working tirelessly to thwart and eliminate resurgent terror attacks in the North West and North East regions.
General Buba explained that despite occasional tactical setbacks , the military’s strategic objective of breaking the terrorists’ will to fight remains resolute and unhindered.
He urged citizen to embrace security as a collective responsibility rather than relying solely on the military.
He buttressed that by working together Nigeria can overcome all the security threats and challenges across the country.
Enugu Reporters earlier reported that the Minister of Defence, H. E. Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, had said the military’s success is a testament to the power of collaboration and determination, and a beacon of hope for a safer and more secure future for all Nigerians.
