The notorious bandit leaders Abu Radde and Umar Black have surrendered their arms with over 15 kidnapped victims in their captivity in Batsari, Katsina State.
Enugu Reporters gathered that this development marked a significant milestone in the fight against banditry and criminality in the region.
The surrender ceremony, which took place on January 19, 2025, was a transparent and well-attended event, with all stakeholders, including military representatives, present to witness the historic moment.
The bandits handed over four AK47 rifles and 15 captives, comprising three males, eight females, and four children, who have been rescued and are now in the care of the Local Government Authorities for rehabilitation and aftercare.
This surrender is a crucial step towards the bandits’ complete disarmament and the release of all kidnapped victims, and it’s a testament to the effectiveness of the intense military operations carried out by the combined forces of Op FASAN YANMA.
The surrendered arms, which are in good condition, are now in the custody of the 17 Brigade, ensuring that they will no longer be used to perpetrate harm and violence in the region.
The move is also a significant victory for the people of Katsina State, who have been living in fear of banditry and kidnapping for far too long.
With the surrender of Abu Radde and Umar Black, the region can begin to breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that two of the most notorious bandit leaders are no longer a threat.
