The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, on Monday commended the 402 Special Forces (SF) Brigade for their exceptional performance in securing the Kaduna-Abuja road and rail corridor.
According to the Director Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu said the move by the Army Chief is to significantly boost the morale of troops and ensure their effectiveness in combating security challenges in defense of the country.
During an operational visit to the 402 SF Brigade Headquarters in Kaduna, the COAS hailed the troops for their bravery and gallantry in the face of security challenges.

He was received with a well-turned-out Quarter Guard and later addressed the officers and soldiers, charging them to confidently project offensives against all terrorists, insurgents, and criminal elements within their Area of Operational Responsibility.
The COAS acknowledged the challenges confronting the troops and pledged to resolve them expeditiously, reaffirming his commitment to improving troops’ welfare by ensuring that every Nigerian Army soldier is well-catered for and properly accommodated.


The Army Chief urged the officers of the Brigade to lead by example, demonstrating courage and resilience as they tackle security challenges within their operational area.
He praised the troops for their achievements so far and encouraged them to maintain their momentum, noting that the SF Brigade’s exceptional performance is evident in the fact that every unit and formation relies on their services.
This visit is part of the COAS’ effort to enhance troop morale and effectiveness in addressing security challenges, and he was joined by key officials including the Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy, Principal Staff Officers, and the General Officer Commanding 1 Division.
Enugu Reporters noted that the 402 SF Brigade has been at the forefront of the fight against terrorism and insurgency in the region, and their exceptional performance has been recognized by the COAS.

The Brigade’s operational successes have been a testament to their bravery and commitment to duty.
With the COAS’ commendation, the troops are expected to sustain the momentum in their fight against terrorists and insurgents, and to continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of the nation.
