Turji’s camp in shambles as troops kill his top brass

In a significant blow to the terrorist network in the Northwest region of the country, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have eliminated the second-in-command of notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji, Aminu Kanawa, as well as several key commanders and close allies.

The operation, which took place between January 20-21, 2025, has left Turji’s camp in disarray, dealing a major setback to their military and fighting capabilities.

According to the Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba explained in a statement on Wednesday that troops inflicted terminal injuries on Dosso, Turji’s younger brother, and Danbokolo, one of his closest allies.

He added that several key commanders, including Abu Dan Shehu, Jabbi Dogo, and Dan Kane, were killed.

He said troops also eliminated over 24 fleeing terrorists from Turji’s camp around Gebe and Isa LGA of Sokoto State, as well as around Gidan Rijiya in Shinkafi LGA of Zamfara State.

The Director noted that the death of Turji’s second-in-command and close allies is a significant blow to the terrorist network, which has been responsible for numerous kidnappings and terrorist attacks across the Northwest, particularly in Zurmi, Shinkafi, Isa, and Sabon Birni Local Government Areas in Zamfara and Sokoto States.

He reiterated that the troops are not relenting, with operations aimed at creating an atmosphere of safety and security for all citizens. The killing of Turji’s top commanders is a major victory for the Nigerian military, which has been working tirelessly to combat terrorism in the region.

With the terrorist network in disarray, the military is poised to deliver a final blow, bringing an end to the reign of terror in the Northwest, Enugu Reporters gathered.

Reacting to the report,

Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, the Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre for Operation FANSAN YAMMA, reaffirmed the troops’ unwavering commitment to eliminating all terrorist elements in and around Fakai Hills and the entire Theatre.

According to him the joint security forces will leave no stone unturned in their quest to restore peace and security to the Northwest Region and Niger State.

He urged the local residents to play a crucial role by reporting any fleeing terrorists seeking refuge or medical treatment in their communities., adding that this collaborative effort will be instrumental in helping the security forces fulfill their mandate and bring an end to the terrorist threat.
