COAS vows to crush security threats in Yobe State as he visits Governor

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has pledged the Nigerian Army’s commitment to provide unwavering support to troops operating in Yobe State The people of Yobe State to tackling security challenges.

The COAS gave the assurance during his visit to the Yobe State Governor, Hon Mai Mala Buni, in Damaturu, the state capital, on Sunda.

Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director Army Public Relations disclosed this in a statement said the visit was part of General Oluyede’s ongoing operational tour of the Joint Task Force, North East, Operation HADIN KAI.

General Oluyede emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Nigerian Army and the Yobe State Government in addressing the security situation in the state.

He expressed his appreciation for the support extended to the troops by the government and people of Yobe State, acknowledging the critical role this support plays in enabling the troops to carry out their duties effectively.

In response, Governor Buni welcomed the COAS’s assurance, emphasizing the need for a concerted effort to decisively deal with the security challenges facing the state.

He pledged his continuous support to the troops, recognizing the sacrifices they have made in restoring peace to the state.
The Governor also took a moment to pray for the souls of the troops who have paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.

Earlier, while addressing troops of Sector 2 Operation HADIN KAI, the COAS commended their resilience and doggedness in the face of adversity. He urged them to remain steadfast in their commitment to defending the nation, guaranteeing his unflinching support to enhance their welfare and operational effectiveness.

The Army Chief also promised to provide improved accommodation for the troops and their families, as well as adequate combat enablers, to ensure they can perform their duties without hindrance.

During his visit to the Theatre Command, the COAS received briefs on ongoing operations and commended the officers and soldiers for their efforts. He encouraged them to continue doing more, assuring them of his continued support to enable them to carry out their tasks professionally.

This development is a significant boost to the morale of the troops and the people of Yobe State, who have been grappling with security challenges. With the COAS’s assurance of support, the Nigerian Army is poised to intensify its efforts to crush security threats in the state, restoring peace and stability to the region, Enugu Reporters gathered.
