The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s security and defense architecture through a people-centric leadership approach.
While delivering a lecture titled “Nigeria’s Security and Defence: My Leadership Concept for the Armed Forces of Nigeria” at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) in Jaji Military Cantonment on Wednesday, General Musa emphasized the importance of leadership in achieving Nigeria’s security and defense goals.
According to the College Public Relations Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Adamu Umar Umar in a statement , the CDS explained that his leadership concept for the Armed Forces is centered around three pillars including people-centric, prioritising the welfare and well-being of troops, recognizing that a motivated and well-cared-for force is essential to achieving national security objectives, deepening Jointness and Interagency Collaboration_: Fostering cooperation and collaboration among different branches of the military and other security agencies to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency, Multinational Cooperation Building partnerships with international organizations and countries to enhance national security, share best practices, and leverage collective capabilities to address common security challenges.
General Musa urged the officers to refocus on values such as integrity, strength of character, boldness, and determination, emphasizing that these values are essential to effective leadership and achieving national security objectives.
He emphasized the need for constant and purposeful training to achieve these objectives, highlighting the importance of ongoing professional development and capacity building.
The CDS also charged the student officers to not only defend the country but also contribute to its peace, stability, and prosperity. He emphasised that military officers have a critical role to play in promoting national development and stability, and that they must be prepared to lead by example and make sacrifices in the service of their country.
The lecture was followed by an interactive session, during which the student officers engaged with General Musa on a range of issues related to national security and defense. The event also included the presentation of souvenirs and a group photograph.
The lecture was attended by students of Senior Course 47 and Junior Course 99/2025 of the AFCSC, as well as other senior military officers and dignitaries.
The event was organised by the AFCSC as part of its ongoing efforts to promote professional development and capacity building among military officers
