The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken another step towards promoting human rights and civil-military harmony.
According to Group Captain Kabiru Ali, Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), a recent Sensitization Workshop was held at the NAF headquarters on Tuesday for newly appointed Civil-Military Relations (CMR), Human Rights, and Gender Desk Officers, marking a significant development in the force’s efforts.
During his remarks, Air Vice Marshal Ibikunle Daramola, Chief of Civil-Military Relations, emphasised the importance of these efforts in ensuring the NAF operates ethically and with consideration for its impact on the public.
The workshop covered critical topics, including, human rights, civilian harm mitigation, media interactions, reputation management and inter-agency cooperation.
Enugu Reporters noted that these selected topics aimed to enhance understanding and upholding human rights in NAF operations, minimize harm to civilians during operations, create effective communication with the media to promote transparency and accountability, maintaining a positive public image through responsible actions and building partnerships with other agencies to enhance national security.
According to the statement, experts, including Professor Ehiz Odigie, Dr. Sampson Terwase, and Mr. Peter Mancha, led the lectures, providing valuable insights into improving the NAF’s approach to non-kinetic operations.
The NAF plans to conduct follow-up actions, including targeted sensitization visits to operational theatres and Command Headquarters throughout the year.
These efforts aim to ensure the NAF’s personnel are equipped to uphold human rights and promote positive relationships with the Nigerian public.
With these initiatives, the NAF demonstrates its commitment to military professionalism, accountability, and contributing to national security and the well-being of the Nigerian people.
