The Commander of the Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Major General Kevin Aligbe, has emphasised the need for the Army to continually review and refine its doctrines and training programmes to align with contemporary operational requirements.
Speaking at the opening of the 2025 Department of Doctrine and Combat Development In-House Study Period, General Aligbe stressed the significance of doctrinal development in enhancing the Army’s operational effectiveness.
According to the TRADOC’s Acting Deputy Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the event aims to provide a veritable platform for officers to assess, refine, and propose innovative solutions to contemporary security threats in the country.
Speaking on the study period, themed “Enhancing Capacity Building for Doctrinal Development: Strengthening Nigerian Army Training and Operations in a Joint Environment,” General Aligbe urged participants to engage in discussions, challenge existing norms, and contribute to the development of doctrines that are responsive to the evolving security landscape.
The Commander of TRADOC also commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, for his support and leadership in driving the Army’s transformation process.
Earlier, the Chief of Doctrine and Combat Development, Major General Jamiu Jimoh, highlighted the need to harmonize Army doctrines with global best practices to ensure operational efficiency in both conventional and asymmetric warfare.
He alluded that the tidy period was a critical period which must be utilise in refining strategies to foster a consistent learning culture to enhance operational proficiency.
