The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has tasked participants of the Army War College Nigeria (AWCN) Course 9/2025 to develop innovative solutions that will boost military operations and national security.
The COAS gave the charge on Tuesday during a lecture at the College Lecture Hall in Asokoro, Abuja.
Major Hashimu Sa’ad Abduullahi, College Public Relations Officer noted in a statement that, the CAS urged participants to adopt approach that prioritises examplary leadership, accountability, mutual trust, unity of purpose and service above personal interest.
General Oluyede emphasized the importance of leadership in military effectiveness, stressing that it remains the cornerstone of a functional and efficient army.
The COAS also highlighted the significance of the Nigerian Army’s Core Values, including loyalty, courage, integrity, discipline, selfless service, and respect for others.
He noted that embracing these values would enhance professionalism among officers, particularly in areas such as competence, adherence to basic soldiering principles, and respect for the Army’s traditions and customs.
In his remarks, Major General Umar Mohammed Alkali, Commandant of AWCN, expressed gratitude to the COAS for his insightful lecture.
He assured the COAS that the College remains committed to grooming senior officers capable of addressing contemporary security challenges.
The event concluded with the presentation of a souvenir to the COAS, followed by a group photograph with faculty members and participants.
