Troops of Sector 2, in collaboration with the Air Component of Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 101 kidnapped victims in Katsina and Zamfara states respectively .
The Coordinator Joint Media Coordination Centre Operation FANSAN YAMMA,, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi disclosed this in a statement said, the rescue operation, which took place on March 17 and 18, 2025, also resulted in the elimination of 10 terrorists.
According to him, in Katsina State, troops launched a deliberate assault on a terrorists’ enclave at Pauwa High Ground in Kankara LGA, killing three terrorists and rescuing 84 kidnapped hostages.
The victims, he noted were handed over to local government authorities for further action.
Meanwhile, in Zamfara State, troops acted on intelligence regarding terrorist activities in the Bagabuzu area of Faru District, Maradun LGA. This led to the killing of seven terrorists and the recovery of a motorcycle, among other items.
Lieutenant Colonel Abdullahi added that about 17 captives were rescued from Tsibiri and Doka villages in Shinkafi LGA and were at the time of this report receiving medical attention at a local hospital.
The statement assured that Operation FANSAN YAMMA remains committed to ensuring the security and safety of communities in Katsina and Zamfara states.
The statement urges the public to remain vigilant and supportive, emphasising that community cooperation was vital for ongoing success in the fight against terrorism.
