The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, Wednesday received the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Mr. Mohammed Fall.
In a statement by the Director Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, said the meeting marked a crucial step towards fostering collaboration between the Nigerian military and the United Nations.
During the meeting, General Musa reaffirmed the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s commitment to enhanced contribution to UN-led peacekeeping operations.
He also emphasised the importance of partnering with state governments to ensure the safe return of refugees to their communities.
General Musa further congratulated the United Nations on its 80th anniversary and expressed his enthusiasm for a partnership that would bolster global security.
The CDS highlighted the importance of civil military relations, noting that it was more impactful and very efficient than kinetic approach during operations
In his remarks, the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, Mr. Fall, appreciated the Nigerian military’s long-standing relationship with the UN, highlighting their significant contributions to peacekeeping missions.
He also called for increased global engagement and support for the Armed Forces of Nigeria, acknowledging Nigeria’s critical role in maintaining peace in Africa and beyond.
He urged them to sustain this feat for the stability of the region.
