The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has reaffirmed the Defence Headquarters’ unwavering commitment to supporting the Special Operation Forces, while urging trainees to intensify their efforts to achieve excellence.
General Musa gave the pledge when he attended the opening ceremony of the Special Operation Forces, held yesterday in Kaduna State.
In a statement relayed to Enugu Reporters by the Director Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, said General Musa emphasised that the event marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s quest to enhance national security and equip its armed forces with the necessary skills to tackle contemporary challenges.
He stressed that the ceremony is not only about training and equipping the Special Operation Forces but also about investing in the country’s security and stability by fostering excellence, resilience, and adaptability.
“This ceremony is not just for the training and equipping of our Special Operation Forces but also for investigating in the security and stability of our great nation by fostering excellence, resilience, and adaptability in the face of evolving security challenges,” he explained.
General Musa noted that the evolving dynamics of modern warfare necessitate well-trained, equipped, and responsive forces.
He expressed optimism that the Special Operation Forces will play a pivotal role in the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s efforts to defeat terrorism, insurgency, and other security threats.
The CDS also thanked the Ministry of Defence for its bold steps in ensuring the event’s success.
According to the statement, recently an approximately 800 personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) had commenced training as part of the Special Operation Forces. General Musa described these trainees as “Vanguards of a New Chapter in our Defence Narrative.”
In a related development, General Musa visited the site of the newly established Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, where he pledged enhanced security cover to enable the institution to meet the presidential directive for a September 2025 takeoff.
The CDS also expressed satisfaction with the progress made on the project so far.
