The Armed Forces of Nigeria, in collaboration with other security agencies, have intensified efforts to combat terrorism, insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, and crude oil theft.
The Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye on Friday said, recent operations have yielded significant successes, showcasing the bravery, discipline, and professionalism of Nigerian troops.
He noted that the operations have continued across various theatres of operations, comprising the North East, North West, North Central, South-South, and other regions where criminal elements seek to disrupt peace and stability.
According to the statement, troops remain committed to their constitutional responsibility of safeguarding the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Nigeria, as well as ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
He said “between April 3-10, 2025, scores of terrorists were eliminated while suspected others were arrested.
“Troops also apprehended 49 perpetrators of oil theft and rescued some kidnapped hostages.“
Major General Kangye explained that troops of Operation DELTA SAFE have foiled oil theft worth over N869,283,765.00, recovering 325,990 litres of stolen crude oil, 24,645 litres of illegally refined AGO, and 19,500 litres of PMS, among other items.
“Additionallly, they discovered and destroyed 86 crude oil cooking ovens, 181 dugout pits, 25 boats , a speedboat, 18 storage tanks , 316 drinks and 22 illegal refining sites,” he stated.
In the North East, Operation HADIN KAI recorded successes, including the surrender of ISWAP/JAS terrorists and the elimination of others.
The Director stated that troops also recovered arms and ammunition. In the North West, Operation FASAN YAMMA conducted offensive operations, eliminating terrorists and recovering arms and livestock.
He noted that air interdiction missions were also carried out targeting notorious terrorist kingpins.
In the South-South, Operation DELTA SAFE sustained operational tempo against crude oil thieves, destroying illegal refining sites and recovering stolen oil.
In the South East, Operation UDO KA killed terrorists, including the leader Nkwachi Eze, and recovered arms and customised clothes with Biafra Liberation Army insignia.
General Kangye reaffirmed the commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to defending national sovereignty and protecting law-abiding citizens.
