The Defence Space Administration (DSA) has committed to collaborating with 3 Division and Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) to bolster military operations in its Area of Responsibility.
The pledge was made during the Chief of Defence Space Administration (CDSA), Air Vice Marshal Larne Oluwatoyin’s maiden operational visit to 3 Division and OPSH at Maxwell Khobe Cantonment in Jos, yesterday.
In a statement relayed to Enugu Reporters by the Division’s Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the CDSA during the visit, acknowledged the complexities of internal security operations in the area and emphasised the importance of all security agencies fulfilling their constitutional duties.
“We are here on the directive of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) to familiarize you with the services we render to military formations in support of their operations across the country,” said Air Vice Marshal Oluwatoyin.
He emphasised the importance of technology in monitoring ungoverned spaces, citing the country’s vast landmass as a challenge for security agencies.
“To address this, the CDS has directed the establishment of Earth observation stations in military formations across all geopolitical zones.
“By establishing these centers, we will bring the DSA to your doorstep, enabling us to support your operations in your AOR,” AVM Oluwatoyin added.
In his remarks, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander OPSH, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, acknowledged the DSA services to enhance military operations including, providing topographical maps, satellite imagery, and real-time surveillance.
The GOC 3 further expressed gratitude for the visit and optimism about future military operations. “We are honored to have you with us today, and we are looking forward to any support DSA could render to enhance our operational effectiveness,” he stated.
Enugu Reporters reports that the collaboration between the DSA and the Division is expected to enhance military operations and promote peace and stability in the region as the DSAs commitment to supporting military operations is a significant step towards achieving national security objectives.
The climax of the visit were the presentation of souvenirs, signing of the visitors’ book, and a group photograph.
