The Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON), has taken a significant step towards realising its vision of a Military Industrial Complex by cementing a partnership with D7G Company Limited.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Deputy Director Public Information and Media DICON, Lieutenant Colonel Haruna Mohammed Sani on Wednesday.
He noted that the strategic collaboration aims to revamp local production of military hardware, promoting self-sufficiency and reliance on indigenous production.
During a visit to DICON Headquarters in Kaduna, the D7G team, led by CEO Mr. Osman Chennar, met with DICON’s Director General, Major General Babatunde Ibrahim Alaya.
The meeting marked a crucial milestone in the partnership, which promises to usher Nigeria into a new era of military industrial production.
Major General Alaya emphasised that D7G’s expertise and reputation make them an ideal partner for DICON. “Our dream is to become the hub of Military Industrial Complex, and with D7G’s support, we can achieve this goal,” he stated.
The DICON boss highlighted the potential for the partnership to enhance production of arms, ammunition, and other military hardware, while promoting capacity development among DICON staff.
Speaking, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) D7G, Mr Osman Chennar assured that the partnership would significantly boost local production of military hardware, and reduce reliance on foreign imports. “Our collaboration with DICON will foster capacity development among staff and boost revenue generation for the country,” he stated.
The D7G CEO expressed optimism about the partnership’s potential to drive innovation and excellence in Nigeria’s defence industry.
Enugu Reporters gathered that the partnership between DICON and D7G is expected to have far-reaching implications for Nigeria’s defence industry, with a focus on local production to enhance self-sufficiency in defence-related products and promote capacity development among DICON staff.
Others are to boost revenue generation for the country, drive innovation and excellence in Nigeria’s defence industry.
